I spent the morning following a small creek that winds its way through fields, then forest, until finally, exhausted…it meets a sheltering hillside and surrenders its life to the grateful trees there.

Along the way it nourishes all manner of creation. Plants spring up along its banks, fish navigate its current, and birds come to feed.

At one point it passes beneath a bridge, and there in the stillness, shafts of sunlight knife through the shadows and paint a rainbow of colors onto the water.

I found this place, and it was so lovely, I waited there to see if nature would be kind enough to add the final brush strokes to finish the painting I saw in my mind.

And she did.
